Cypress essential oil has incredible astringent properties which make it useful for aiding acne and oily skin types. It is commonly used in deodorants. 

MIND

Cypress oil is useful for those who suffer from nervousness and anxiety. It helps to restore calm and focus whilst helping ease negative emotions.

It brings the mind into balance with the spirit. Helps one cope with and accept life changes (moves, new job etc.). 

BODY

Cypress essential oil is recommended whenever there is excess fluid. It can be used to treat varicose veins, haemorrhoids, coughs and to help regulate heavy and painful periods. It is also beneficial for respiratory problems such as asthma, coughs and bronchitis

Diffusion: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of choice. 

Topical use:

For massage, mix 5 drops with 10 ml carrier oil.

For bath, mix 5 drops with 5 ml carrier oil.

For perfuming, mix 1 drop to 10 drops carrier oil.

• Avoid during pregnancy. 
• Do not use undiluted on the skin. Avoid contact with sensitive areas, such as eyes.
• Keep out of reach of children. Do not use essential oils on children under 5 years old.
• If you are nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician.
• For external use only.
• Best kept in a cool dry place.
• Naturally occurring allergens: Limonene 14%, Linalool 0.8%.

Like dark, serene guardians of the threshold, rows of pencil-straight cypresses are often planted near cemeteries to keep watch over the entrance to the Otherworld. Cypresses have always been associated with death and mourning, but also with the eternal life of the soul. Greek mythology tells the tale of the young boy Cyparissos, a special friend of Apollo, who rode a beautiful sacred stag. One day he accidentally killed the animal with his own spear. Devastated, he longed for nothing more than to be allowed to die so he could be reunited with his stag in the Otherworld. Apollo tried to console him, but in vain. Wanting to honour his friend's wishes, he changed him into a cypress. And so, the cypress became the symbol of grief and mourning. Cypresses are planted on graves as a symbol of remembrance. Their 'gestalt' expresses not so much gloominess, as serene composure and concentration.

Cypress trees belong to one of the eldest plant families on earth, Cupressaceae, which is 17 million years old.

The use of cypress as medicine was first recorded in the papyri of ancient Egypt.
